Meet Ashley, founder of Akira Wellness, a dedicated Indo-Fijian yoga instructor and Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor, originally from the Bay Area and currently based and teaching in Las Vegas, Nevada.
With over 13 years of experience in the wellness industry, Ashley has worked in various capacities - starting with Collegiate Recreation and Wellness in an effort to help college students build wellness into their daily lifestyles. After her journey across 3 states and 5 college institutions, Ashley decided it was time to step into the corporate world. Along with her professional experience, Ashley earned her Bachelor's degree in Health Science with an emphasis in Community Health in 2012, followed by a Master's degree in Sport and Event Management in 2017.
Her personal journey with yoga started during her early college days. Before she began teaching, Ashley assisted instructors with an after school children's yoga program in the Bay Area. In 2018, after moving to Seattle and in search for community, Ashley knew it was time to take her journey one step further and Ashley received her Yoga Teacher Training Certification, which further deepened her passion for sharing the practice of yoga with others. In 2020, while in-person teaching was on a pause due to the pandemic, she decided to further her studies and began her journey to become a certified Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor.
As a yoga instructor, Ashley strives to create a safe and inclusive space for her students to explore their physical, mental, and spiritual capabilities while aligning their breath and movement. She is dedicated to helping her students cultivate a deeper connection with themselves and the world around them through the practice of yoga. Ashley believes that by incorporating the principles of the 8 limbs of yoga into our daily lives, we can create a better world for ourselves and others. She encourages her students to embrace these principles not only on the mat but also in their daily interactions with others.
In Ashley's view, the practice of yoga is not just about physical postures but also about cultivating a deeper connection with oneself and others. Through the practice of yoga, individuals can develop greater empathy, compassion, and understanding, leading to a more peaceful and harmonious world.
As an Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor, Ashley works with clients to create personalized plans that are tailored to their unique needs and goals. She believes that by incorporating the principles of Ayurveda into their daily lives, her clients can achieve greater balance, harmony, and overall well-being.
In her free time, Ashley enjoys traveling, practicing yoga, and spending time with her family, friends and her puppy, Mamba. She is committed and passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience with others to help them lead balanced lifestyle.
When it comes to the ancient practices of Yoga and Ayurveda, Ashley knows that she is a forever student. It would take her beyond a lifetime to learn all that there is to know about these practices which have been around for thousands of years. Ashley's recent completion of her 300 RYT demonstrates her commitment to deepening her knowledge and skills as a yoga instructor. With Ashley's background in Community Health, she understands the importance of bridging the gap of health care and mental health disparities in the United States and hopes to find ways to continue supporting a healthier community.
Ashley's pop-up yoga classes in Las Vegas are a great way for individuals to explore their yoga practice in a fun and relaxed environment.
